Missed call text-back and AI receptionist for builders

Running a site, sorting deliveries and quoting the next job leaves little time to answer the phone. InstallerLine answers for you, takes the details of every enquiry, pencils quote visits into your diary for you to confirm with one tap, and texts you a summary.

  • Keep your own number
  • We set it all up for you
  • First month free for our first 10 clients · no card needed today · then monthly rolling

Calls you miss on the tools

Extension and renovation enquiries are big jobs, and people often ring several builders before deciding who to invite round. Missing that first call can mean missing the chance to quote.

Example calls, and how InstallerLine handles them

An extension enquiry

The call: A homeowner wants a single-storey rear extension and asks if you could come and look.

What InstallerLine does: Takes their details, the address and postcode, the kind of work and whether they have plans or planning permission, then pencils in a quote visit as provisional.

What you get: A summary and a provisional visit to confirm, move or decline.

When can you start?

The call: Someone asks how soon you could start a kitchen knock-through.

What InstallerLine does: Explains that you'll confirm timings yourself, takes the details and passes it to you. It never promises a start date.

What you get: An email and text so you can ring back with a realistic answer.

A sales call

The call: A marketing company rings trying to sell you advertising.

What InstallerLine does: Politely turns it away, so you're not interrupted.

What you get: Nothing to deal with, unless you'd like a note of it.

Examples only. They show how the service is set up to handle these calls.

What it handles for builders

✅ It will

  • Answer in your business name, 24/7, in plain British English
  • Tell callers it's an AI assistant and that the call is recorded
  • Take name, phone, postcode, address and job details, and read them back
  • Extensions, renovations, conversions and structural work enquiries
  • Quote visits, pencilled in for you to confirm
  • Calls from existing clients and suppliers, passed on as messages
  • Sales calls politely turned away
  • Text back callers who hang up

❌ It won't

  • Pretend to be a person
  • Diagnose faults or give technical advice
  • Quote prices you haven't approved
  • Promise a firm time or price, or take card payments
  • Treat emergencies as routine jobs
Urgent calls go straight to you. You decide what counts as urgent for your firm. Those calls are never pencilled in as routine jobs: you get a text straight away so you can ring back, and on Busy Firm the AI can transfer the caller to you live during the hours you set. If anyone is in danger, it tells the caller to ring 999.

How it works

1

Divert your missed calls

Turn on "divert when busy or unanswered" on your mobile or landline. It takes two minutes, and we send you the steps for your network.

2

We build your receptionist

We set up your services, area, hours, FAQs and diary, and test it before it goes live. You approve exactly what it's allowed to say.

3

Every enquiry, captured

After each call you get an email and a text with the caller's name, number, postcode, job and urgency. Anyone who rings off gets a text back.

Hear a demo

📞 Call the demo line

07482 648517

The demo answers as a fictional heating firm, Borders Heating. Your line is set up for your own trade, with your services, area, hours and the questions you want asked.

Standard UK call rates apply. Calls to the demo line are recorded and transcribed so we can improve the service. Borders Heating isn't a real firm, so nobody will be sent out.

What happens next

  2. We build and test your receptionist with you, and you approve what it says.
  3. You turn on "divert when busy or unanswered" on your phone. It takes about two minutes.

Questions from builders

Does InstallerLine work for builders?

Yes. We set it up for your firm: your services, area, hours, the questions you want asked and what counts as urgent. You approve exactly what it's allowed to say before it goes live.

Do I need to change my phone number?

No. You keep your number and divert calls you don't answer (or all calls, if you prefer) to your InstallerLine number. Your phone provider may charge for diverted calls, depending on your plan.

Does it confirm jobs on its own?

No. On Receptionist and Busy Firm it pencils jobs and visits into your diary as provisional, and nothing is final until you confirm with one tap or reply with another time. If you don't confirm within 24 hours (or 2 hours before the slot, if sooner), the slot is released and the caller is told you'll ring them.

Will callers know it's an AI?

Yes. It says so at the start of every call, and it tells callers the call is recorded.

Will it give callers a price or a start date?

No. By default it never quotes prices or promises dates. You can approve specific wording, such as how far ahead you're working, if you want it to.

Can it tell new enquiries apart from existing clients?

Yes. It asks, and your summary shows which is which, so existing clients don't get lost in the enquiries.
