Calls you miss on the tools

Solar and battery enquiries are valuable, and homeowners often ring several installers. The firm that answers and gets a survey in the diary is usually the one that gets to quote.

Example calls, and how InstallerLine handles them

New solar and battery enquiry

The call: A homeowner wants panels and a battery and asks if you cover their area.

What InstallerLine does: Checks their postcode against your area, asks your qualifying questions (property type, roof direction if they know it, whether they want a battery), and pencils in a survey as provisional.

What you get: A summary with the answers and a provisional survey slot to confirm with one tap.

Adding a battery to existing panels

The call: Someone with panels fitted a few years ago wants to add a battery.

What InstallerLine does: Takes their details and notes the existing system if they know it. If you've approved an answer about adding batteries to older systems, it gives it.

What you get: An email and text so you can call back or confirm the visit.

An existing customer's system

The call: A past customer says their inverter is showing an error.

What InstallerLine does: Takes the details and the error message, and passes it to you as a call-back. It doesn't try to diagnose it.

What you get: A call-back request with the customer's details, marked by urgency.

Examples only. They show how the service is set up to handle these calls.

What it handles for solar and battery installers

✅ It will

  • Answer in your business name, 24/7, in plain British English
  • Tell callers it's an AI assistant and that the call is recorded
  • Take name, phone, postcode, address and job details, and read them back
  • New solar PV and battery survey requests
  • Battery add-ons and system extensions
  • Aftercare and inverter calls from existing customers
  • Approved FAQs: MCS certification, area, guarantees, how surveys work
  • Text back callers who hang up

❌ It won't

  • Pretend to be a person
  • Diagnose faults or give technical advice
  • Quote prices you haven't approved
  • Promise a firm time or price, or take card payments
  • Treat emergencies as routine jobs
Safety comes first. We agree the safety wording with you before your line goes live. For example, if a caller describes sparking, a burning smell, scorch marks or exposed wires, the AI tells them to keep clear and call 999 if anyone is in danger, gives the free 105 number for a power cut, and flags the call to you as urgent. It never gives electrical advice or pencils these in as normal jobs.

How it works

1

Divert your missed calls

Turn on "divert when busy or unanswered" on your mobile or landline. It takes two minutes, and we send you the steps for your network.

2

We build your receptionist

We set up your services, area, hours, FAQs and diary, and test it before it goes live. You approve exactly what it's allowed to say.

3

Every enquiry, captured

After each call you get an email and a text with the caller's name, number, postcode, job and urgency. Anyone who rings off gets a text back.

The demo answers as a fictional heating firm, Borders Heating. Your line is set up for your own trade, with your services, area, hours and the questions you want asked.

Standard UK call rates apply. Calls to the demo line are recorded and transcribed so we can improve the service. Borders Heating isn't a real firm, so nobody will be sent out.

Questions from solar and battery installers

Does InstallerLine work for solar and battery installers?

Yes. We set it up for your firm: your services, area, hours, the questions you want asked and what counts as urgent. You approve exactly what it's allowed to say before it goes live.

Do I need to change my phone number?

No. You keep your number and divert calls you don't answer (or all calls, if you prefer) to your InstallerLine number. Your phone provider may charge for diverted calls, depending on your plan.

Does it confirm jobs on its own?

No. On Receptionist and Busy Firm it pencils jobs and visits into your diary as provisional, and nothing is final until you confirm with one tap or reply with another time. If you don't confirm within 24 hours (or 2 hours before the slot, if sooner), the slot is released and the caller is told you'll ring them.

Will callers know it's an AI?

Yes. It says so at the start of every call, and it tells callers the call is recorded.

Can it answer questions about grants or export payments?

Only with wording you've approved. Schemes and tariffs change, so by default it takes the question and passes it to you.

Can it ask my own qualifying questions?

Yes. We set up the questions you want asked for each type of enquiry, so you have what you need before you call back.
